Random Rants

I really should be doing something more important right now… like revising for a Bio “surprise” test this wednesday, but whatever.

So maybe I’ll go back to Anime talk after all that Conan stuff last time. Maybe today I’ll talk about two of the “highlights” this season, So Ra No Wo To and Baka no Test (something something).

So Ra No Wo To
In this series, we follow a bunch of K-ON lookalikes wearing thick and bulky standard issues defending (?) a town on the outskirts of nowhere. My hopes were quite high for this series actually, seeing that it starts out with a pretty nice introduction and I actually really thought that I’m going to see some real Mosin-Nagant action in this series. But no, it dumped our pathetic main character in a random town in god knows where and throws her a bugle to play and a bunch of other girls for a harem. What the heck. It’s Anime no Chikara! I don’t want to see K-ON! I don’t want to see people in military uniforms trying to play a Bugle to the tune of Amazing Grace! There are better settings than a country tired of war to do that. If there was one thing I want to see as this Anime, it is a reflection of WW2 from the Japanese perspective. Controversial? Maybe. But the messages it can bring are real, and much more powerful than whoever is trying to do here, and it can show that Anime is not just about fan service or shounen heroes, and can do something good and serious if people want to. I thought that was the purpose of Anime no Chikara.

The Other Anime (google it)
Ok, it’s pretty retarded. If anyone bothered to read the translation of the OP, you can roughly tell how stupid the series will end up. I really really hope whoever that produces this is just using the entire theme as an ironic joke to poke fun at students, else I pity his sanity in trying to produce something to encourage studying, which again is filled with endless heaps of nonsense. I really have no idea what kind of path this disastrous thing is going to walk, and I have no idea why I’m even talking about it in detail, but yea, its probably the no.1 WTF anime this season (or this year).

Conan

I watch snippets of the Tonight show once in a while. Technically speaking I don’t give a crap about him or NBC, but all this hype about the fight over the Tonight show hosting makes me really think about the pathetic excuse that is Singapore’s entertainment industry.

Not to say that the Tonight show is particularly high class or whatever, but really, these people here practically live to entertain, regardless of how stupid the jokes and stuff are. They take jibes at NBC, they throw comments across programs, and whatever nonsense they come up with.

Ironically, all we get here in the ‘less’ capitalist Singapore, is a bunch of Singlish speaking mandarin hosts making a fool out of themselves in huge corporately sponsored game shows. The closest we get to a talk show is probably mrbrown. Can’t any single sane mind here produce something for mainstream television that does not cater exclusively to old women? Or continuously repeat the same old jokes on Singlish? (Which, incidentally, should never have been a joke in the first place, considering it’s just flawed language)

Mediacorp. Be smart, hire Conan and give him a new lava lamp that’s better than NBC’s.

10 minutes

I have approximately 10 minutes to write this after 6 months(?) of absolute inactivity.
Firstly, every single crap that was the Autumn season was bad. The end. I can find nothing truly enjoyable to sink my teeth into. It’s either fanservice, or crap, or neither, or very-good-material-but-very-fail-development.

Winter, however, looks pretty promising so far. The 2 ‘blockbusters’ this season is undoubtedly :

So Ra No Wo To : A1 Pictures / Anime no Chikara. Character design that looks a tad too similar to K-ON ; rather original material, if they can develop it well ; I love the OP ; Amazing Grace is rofl but just. so. dam. cute. for an anime.

Dance in the Vampire Bund: SHAFT / Manga or Original or Both, Lacklustre first episode, second episode didn’t make too much of an impact, transforming vampires are always a nono, especially if they become animals, loli, apparent nonchalant attitude towards nudity, but its SHAFT, and I really do hope to see something good for once.

Durarara! : wtf bullshit

Baka to Test : makes me feel stupid.

This blog will be revived. Trust me =)

Someone asked me why am I so out-of-this-world pathetic.

I didn’t answer, but this is actually what I thought.

I am not mainstream. When people are obsessed with a bunch of plastic women dance to a (quite catchy, must admit) song, I get obsessed with their Computer hardware.

When people watch soccer games, I am waiting for the next episode of Haruhi to come out.

When people are going to gyms, styling their hair, working their muscles, putting on make-up and smsing hordes of women (known and unknown) during class, I discuss with someone why Singapore CMI, and watch as more fats gather and looking at my already ugly face become worse with a hairstyle that doesn’t suit me.

Is being mainstream really so important? Does not conforming to this huge bandwagon of society really make you that of a outcast? How in the world are people thinking. If everyone is just supposed to follow the same style as someone else, then who is going to be daring enough to make the change that we need so desperately?

I am not fashionable, not muscle crazy, not korean insane, not homosexual, so don’t even try making me one.

(If anyone is still following Valkyria Chronicles, it now has lost all manners of logic, and it becomes humorous to even see the story move along. On the other hand however, HARUHI stopped %#$%#$ looping! First time I watched a full episode for a long time. I really loved KyoAni’s new animation and style. Awesome. You actually know that someone’s behind the scenes working putting their blood and sweat into this thing, and you can see the tiniest of detail in the animation, and not cutting on quality. The character’s expressions were so much more fluid and unrealistically real, you now don’t just have stereotypical overused emotions anymore. If you have stopped following SHnY’s second season due to the 8 episode loop, I suggest you go back and give it another try.)

My life feels really empty these few days… If I were to stop and think, the only stuff that comes up are my chinese project, history project, SS test, and RE.

I can’t even sit down and finish a few episodes of Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. I once thought it was quite interesting, and somehow me recently started to scrutinize every single detail of it and try to figure out which parts are wrong, illogical, clichéd, etc etc.

I can’t believe I even tried watching GA, the stupid pedophilic art design class thing that I went wtf after 2 minutes.

Maybe I should try Princess Lover, harem always have some sort of appeal.

Don’t even mention Haruhi’s second season. My new routine for it is, open, view first 10 seconds, skip to middle, skip to end, check if out of loop, if yes, wait patiently for next episode. Else, alt-f4.

Why is it that I always feel this weird sense of emptiness.

Does anyone even talk to me anymore?

Hello?

Are you there?

Hey.

Long time ago…

I’m back!

Sorry for the long MIA period. Things are going nuts around here.

I’m keeping today’s update sweet and simple, a new chart!

AUTUMN SEASON! FINALLY!
Saw a few that I might want to watch. Due to the looping Haruhi, I have not watched any anime in a week. Personal achievement.

Did I see Inuyasha? O.o

(credits to the fella that made this beautiful chart every season. its awesome)

Trying to do something.

I’m trying to do the following :

Finish the stupid flash animation for Splash, as well as sitting down and finding all the nice little music clips.

Not eating the nice crunchy apple beside me, since I’m typing on my keyboard.

Not alt-tabbing to mousehunt to check if I caught a Cheese Belt. (which I didn’t, and haven’t)

Not going to wikipedia and go tab surfing again. (I waste at least an hour a day doing this. Just too addictive. Once I managed to link myself from Video Games to Titanium. Which led me to the space race, then to russians, then to communism, then to Marx, and then I realized I just wasted an hour of my life).

Not changing my MSN display name for the #@#$ time of the year.

And trying to do my SS essay. For some odd reason.

I think I’m going to major in Engineering, and then minor in Physics or History or Politics in uni. Depends on my mood though. (and future political inclination)

Help….

Sigh, I just generated web rubbish. Poor internet. Looks like I’m yet another failed monkey in the great web experiment.

Think I’ll go browse xkcd again. Bye.

This blog is getting dead isn’t it… I seriously wonder how many people are still following. =P

I have this kind of a love hate relationship with the new season of Haruhi. Simply because I am #$%$# tired of watching 3 episodes that are generally similar in a row. Endless 8. The book settled this thing much faster…

Summer season is finally here too, but so are exams, due dates and etc. Thankfully, except for Haruhi, theres nothing really worth watching this season… But I guess it’s going to change. XD

Keep your socks up people…

(After watching 3 war films, I just realized how unrealistic Valkyria Chronicles is. A squad of 20? managed to infiltrate a town, blow a armored train (no logic too. limited movement, + need to build tracks + fried onion if someone blow the rails up, which is so darn simple) + an AK-47 look-alike just sniped somebody %#$%$ miles away who has a sniper rifle + squad has practically zero losses except for a bunch of civilians the enemy shot and it totally made no sense since they could have just taken down the squad as well instead of wasting ammo on civilians which earn them totally nothing. Thus conclusion, Wtf godmode they are using?)

Wings are overrated

(So are women)

I love this song. Just listen to it.

If you find this song familiar yet have no idea where or when did it appear, reference to Episode 1’s introduction piece. Its somewhat like a Japanese “folk” song, since its so common and practically anyone who has went through their education system can sing it.

I have retired totally from Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood (even stopped watching it) since the storyline is too pretty darned boring and too pretty darned slow. Little wonder it is not the highest rated anime of the season.

Whereas on the other hand I started watching just about everything else, including Sunrise’s ongoing series Sora o Kakeru Shojo, which, I correctly concluded after watching the first few episodes, has definitely something to do with those folks that made Mai Hime and Mai Otome. (not just something. practically entire production team).

Oh yea, RIP King of Pop. Simply including this line since everyone else does. Not that I’m particularly interested in a pedophile that wants to continuously change his face and look white for some obscene reason.

Looking for something to look out for this season. Fears getting killed by chinese communist propaganda dramas. (but they still hella makes more sense than singaporeans actors fooling around like a bunch of clowns which occasionally shed tears which now claims to be a drama).

And to all my friends, face this new semester with a fresh brain and another pair of hands or 10 more fingers. You will need it.

You might or might not have noticed, but I have became rather inactive…

Mostly as its the holidays. =D

I am spending most of my time catching up on the animes I didn’t watch this and last season. As well as doing nothing. I went for camps as well, and I missed the release of the new episode of Haruhi because of that.

Hell!!!

Shall stop reviewing FMA as its simply too ugh. Watch it yes, review it no.

Look out for more…
